A Sword of Shadowed Sky Is the planned first book in the Winds of Eternity Trilogy.I first had the idea for the book a long time ago when thinking about the original Hans Christian Anderson version of The Little Mermaid and how sad it is that the mermaid gave up not just her body but her life for a prince that would never love her back.I also love worldbuilding wanted to use this as an opportunity to see how far I could push fae lore while still being identifiable. I spent much of my teenage years enjoying books like Iron Fey, Wicked Lovely, Tithe, and other fairy inspired stories, but the women in the books were always queens and royalty. I wanted someone like Alanna from The Song of the Lioness as my heroine.And finally, I wanted this to be a book for adults. Because, well, I'm in my late thirties and I want protagonists who have seen something of life so far and have reasons to be cynical.

As the bodyguard to the Spring Prince, Astra has acquired many talents. The most important of which is her ability to conceal her feelings for him.But as the prince she loves prepares to marry another, the Spring Court is attacked and the bride stolen by shadowy creatures.A suspicious sorceress offers Astra a bargain: give up her connection to Spring, and be granted the powers needed to save the princess and protect her beloved prince.But it is a trick. Now, Astra has to complete her mission with powers she cannot control accompanied by a fae she does not trust. Haruki, a surly Dusk Fae assassin with too many secrets, insists on fighting by her side.Astra must learn to control her dark powers and work with the fae she suspects is behind the attack if she's to defeat the mysterious enemy and save the princess.

Aisling O'Halloran grew up in a small town with just one traffic light and more deer than humans. She attended a small liberal arts college where she studied creative writing with a focus on poetry and folk tales.
